While a lot of people don’t put so much thought into it, some people insist that the only way in which ice cubes can be used, or be at least, aesthetically pleasing is when they are crystal clear. If you want to know what makes these ice cubes crystal clear, then it may surprise you that it’s actually the cleanliness of the water that plays a huge role. With that said here are the 2 ways on how to make clear ice cubes.
Use Commercial Bottled Water
If you are feeling fancy, then you may use commercial, bottled water, as it is presumed that this is always purified. With that said, make sure to get either distilled water, or one which has been treated via reverse osmosis. This is because before your water gets into the bottles, it is filtered and all impurities are removed. This includes dissolved gases, most commonly, and predictably, oxygen. The plastic bottle acts as some form of a trap to prevent as much oxygen from getting trapped in the water, hence if you do use bottled water, pour it into the ice tray immediately.
Boil your Water First
Should you only have access to tap water, make it a point to boil your water first. Boiling water for a couple of minutes is the most basic means of treating water. Apart from killing harmful microorganisms like bacterial and parasites, boiling water also helps excess oxygen, which has been dissolved in the water after being transported throughout a system of pipes/conduits to be evaporated and thus, removed from the water, thus helping to make the ice look much clearer. This is the much easier, and more practical way for you to achieve not only clean and safe, but crystal clear ice cubes as well.…
